Drums rolling, unquiet horses pawing the ground, shining steel of swords and cassocks: here they are. Accompanied by the blaring of trumpets and the flaming colours of the waving flags, the dark figure of the tyrant Ezzelino da Romano and the Prince Da Carrara, protagonists of both history and legend, walk along the streets of the town towards the stretch of the moat just in front of the powerful Fortress. Here is the repetition and revival of the Palio race, according to the statute of 1366. It is a challenge requiring both ability and courage among ten horses and ten riders of the municipalities of the Montagnanese area.
